Marine cable, also known as marine power cable, is a kind of electric wire, lighting and general control wire and cable used in water construction such as various ships and offshore oil platforms.

Cable selection steps and principles:

The selection procedures and principles for each cable in the ship's power system are as follows:

1, according to the use of cable, laying the location and working conditions to select the appropriate cable model.

2, according to the work of electrical equipment, power types, cable core and load current to select the appropriate cable cross-section.

3, according to the system short-circuit current calculation results, fragment cable short-circuit capacity is to meet the requirements.

4. Correct the rated current carrying capacity of the cable according to the ambient temperature, and then judge whether the allowable current of the cable is greater than the load current.

5. Correct the rated current carrying capacity of the cable according to the laying correction coefficient, and then judge whether the allowable current of the cable is greater than the load current.

6, check the line voltage drop, to determine whether the line voltage drop is less than the specified value.

7, according to the setting of the protection device to determine whether the cable and the protection device is coordinated; if not coordinated to determine whether you can change the appropriate protection device or set value, or should re-select the appropriate cable surface.
